WELCOME to CLOSEMBRACE TANGO
In order to dance argentine tango, one must first learn the ‘language’ of argentine tango and like any language you must spend a bit of time learning the grammar, the vocabulary, and how to pronounce things properly in order to speak it intelligibly. For that purpose CLOSEMBRACE TANGO runs a weekly 2 hr class in Woods Hole, MA and a 2 hr practica with the hopes of building a thriving and growing tango community of dancers in the upper cape and then the surrounding areas. More classes as well as a dedicated practica coming soon.

NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER, OR BRING A PARTNER (SPOUSE), OR WEAR HEELS, OR SPECIAL SHOES… Just bring friends, $18 dollars (suggested), water, and wear loose fitting clothing, and warm socks that slide! If you’d like to come, just come. You do not need to bring your spouse in order to learn to dance tango. If you want to learn, we are here to teach you to dance. Don’t let money stand in the way either! While classes are not free, we have to pay for the space you know, and we do have to eat just like you, we will ask you to pay what you can afford. Building community takes time, patience, and understanding. If you want to dance, we’ll find a way to make it work out.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Description:

One of the best ways to really ‘get’ tango is thru Private Study with a teacher that understands both roles, dances both roles socially, can explain how you move in tango in one of 7 different modalities of how the human mind learns or retains information. I believe I am such a teacher. I don’t teach ‘patterns or steps’ because in tango there really are only two – your left and your right! I teach quality of movement and I believe I put that across in several different ways to my students. I train you to ‘understand’ what you are doing and WHY are you doing it! My goal is to create solid, clean, clear social dancers, not mirrors of me! I teach my students to respect the codigos of the dance, the line of dance, the music of the dance, and above all – their partners. I believe that in order to become a better dancer, to literally change that dancer into something else, that said dancer ABSOLUTELY MUST revisit their foundation repeatedly, AND PRACTICE!!

[NOTE: Understand taking private lessons does not immediately mean that you will improve nor that the rest of the world is going to see you as a viable dancer. The truth is that private lessons are only the 1st part of a 3 step process. The 2nd step has everything to do you with you as a person, and how you engage with people in social situations, and the 3rd step is all about 're-building' your Tango Credibility as it were.

Argentine Tango is a beautiful and wonderful social dance that can literally change your life in ways you haven’t even thought of yet. Its a great way to meet new people, make friends, explore a side of yourself you never knew existed. Tango is a walking dance, which means that you don’t need to be an athlete to dance it, you just need to learn how to walk and to walk well. If you can walk, you can dance!  In this weekly course, you will learn how to walk, how to turn, how to embrace your partners in a lovely and amazing way that is soft, light, and engaging. You will learn about the dance of tango, the music of tango, and a little bit of tango’s very rich and dynamic history.

About Miles (and yes his last name is “Tangos”) began his Tango experience in 2006 with Daniel Trenner. He fell in love with the dance, and quickly became addicted. He spent the next 2 1/2 years of his tango life taking 7 private lessons a week, from 7 different teachers, plus 10 hrs a day of practice, plus an hour nightly class, and then social dancing till 1 am every night, all while writing a daily tango blog. To say he was ‘devoted’ is an understatement!

Miles has studied with everyone he could think of and then some, traveled to teach in Europe (Malta, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, and Poland, and also in Buenos Aires. He has DJ’d in all of those places and then some. His primary focus is teaching from the perspective that the dance can only be understood if you learn and dance both sides of the embrace socially!
